Privacy Policy

When you register to become a member on TownMesh or sign up for our newsletter, we ask that you provide some personally identifiable details that can be used to contact or identify you and complete your account registration such as your name, phone number, photo, email address, location, date of birth, gender, and similar information. We use this information to help us identify you, sync your contacts with your permission to allow you to invite them to become members, confirm member account, prevent fraudulent use of our sites, operationalize, personalize our services, improve our products and features, diagnose and resolve problems, analyze trends, monitor and to help us show you more relevant content or advertisements. We also use this information to render your interaction with other members in pursuant to their agreement to our privacy policy and member agreement. When you contact us for support, we will ask that you provide us with your contact information and a description of the issue so we can respond appropriately. We do not collect any personal data about visitors to our sites.

With your permission, where it is required by applicable laws, we, our service providers, and partners may collect technical information when you visit or use TownMesh, interact with our partners’ marketing communications and general location information such as city or geographic area. Your device and software settings affect what information your device makes available to us.

You may share information about yourself in your profile, post on our sites, comment on other posts, or send a private message to other members if you so wish but note that this is at your discretion and we cannot protect against information you chose to share with others. Posts may include but are not limited to text, photos, places, etc. You may also choose to share information about a local business in the form of a recommendation, comment, or by contacting us if you would like to utilize our services for advertisement to promote your business or services.

Please note that advertisements on our Sites may collect limited member data such as geo-location to improve your member experience and the Services that we provide. TownMesh may partner with Third-party partners to offer members services through advertisements on our Sites.

TownMesh also has social media apps in which members may choose to share information using the social media buttons, in this case, the social media platforms policies would apply.

Our site does not allow children under the age of 13 to use our services or create accounts. If anyone under the legal age per jurisdiction creates an account, by doing so they confirm that a parent or legal guardian has given consent and is fully responsible for their account. Please contact us immediately should you have any concerns about believing that an unauthorized account has been created.

Media

You may choose to grant our app permission to collect images/files from your device’s camera when you include images in your posts. These images/files may include metadata indicating how, when, where, and by whom the files were created and how they are formatted. Metadata can make your images/files more searchable and interactive and may be accessible to other members or anyone else who can access the files. All uploaded files are usually publicly accessible.

Cookies and Embedded Content

We do not share your personal information with third parties; however, TownMesh sites may include articles with embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. It is your responsibility to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of these third-party apps and/or websites before using these sites.

Analytics

We TownMesh, use both manual and automated systems to analyze content on our sites to support operations needed for service delivery, personalize member experiences and diagnose and resolve issues.

Who we share your data with

TownMesh is a social platform where members interact with one another and share information with each other. To that end, we make the content you post on TownMesh, such as posts, replies, messages, and profile information, available to other TownMesh members

We may need to share some of your personal information with our verification partners, i.e. telecommunications providers to confirm your account by providing your telephone number for account creation purposes. You will be asked to grant these services permission to access your device’s precise geolocation, which we use to confirm your location and connect you with others around you and help us operate or personalize our services.

TownMesh is a social platform and as such, any content on the app, such as posts, comments, replies, recommendations, messages, and your profile information, may be visible to other Members, businesses, governments, and agencies, or the public, including visitors and search engines. If this information is cached by third-party search engines or other third parties, please note we do not control the practices of these third parties, and they may use caches containing outdated information. Please consult these third parties privacy policies.

How long we retain your data

Your information is retained in our database for as long as you are utilizing our apps. We may retain your verification-related information for a reasonable period of time, even if you do not complete all verification steps, to assist with future verifications and to prevent abuse of our verification processes. We may also need to retain, preserve or share your content and information, for longer periods to comply with legal or regulatory obligations and for dispute resolutions and if we have a good-faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to respond to a legal request. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically. For users that register on our sites, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their phone number). Website administrators can edit some of the profile information when requested but cannot change your phone number.

What rights you have over your data

You can access your account information by logging into your application at any time. You can delete your account and remove most content that you have posted. You are solely responsible for the information you share on our platforms and we are not obligated to provide you a copy unless when requested in writing for legal reasons. Please note that we do not indefinitely store your information and may be limited to what is available in our database at the time of the request.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

By using TownMesh, you understand that we may store your data outside your home country including using cloud services. The privacy protections and the rights of authorities to access your personal information in some of these countries may not be the same as in your home country. TownMesh will only transfer personal data as permitted by law and will take steps intended to ensure appropriate protection of your personal information.

How we protect your Data

TownMesh uses technical and organizational measures intended to keep your data secure, to reduce the risk of unauthorized interception of your communications. However, the internet is not a fully secure environment and we cannot guarantee that your personal information won’t be intercepted or improperly accessed. Please ensure that you keep your login information such as password(s) if used safely and do not share it with anyone, or log out of the app when not in use or set a password to your mobile device per your carrier offered settings.

Information on the Site

When using TownMesh, DO NOT share other people’s information or non-public content without their permission. DO NOT share any of your personal account information with others. Members can only have ONE account at a time. DO NOT collect other members’ information for any use without the members’ verifiable authorization or any information thereof from TownMesh in any manner unless it is your own images or posts whether manually or through automation.

Violating any aspects of the TownMesh privacy policy or Member Agreement WILL lead to a loss of account privileges, potentially including a permanent ban from TownMesh.

Amendments to this Privacy Policy

From time to time we may make changes to this privacy policy. If we materially change our privacy policy, we will take steps to notify you in advance of the change, for example by emailing you or by posting a notice in your app feed or updating the privacy policy on our website http://www.townmesh.com. The most up-to-date version of the privacy policy is available in your account and/or our website. If you continue to access or use TownMesh after the date any revised privacy policy comes into force, you will be deemed to have consented to the revised privacy policy.
